HolidayIQ is India’s travel community and holiday information portal, enabling travellers to discover numerous vacation choices, plan holiday trips in detail, and share holiday experiences with other travellers. The website is not a travel agent and does not do any bookings directly.
Hari moved to Mumbai from Bangalore for work and he was looking for places to go to near Mumbai as a travel enthusiast. People suggested a list of places. He visited all places and then started road trips with his family to discover new places in the vicinity. Those trips became famous in his work place, as he became the go to guy for most people to get advice for a weekend getaway. Even the guys who were born and brought up in Mumbai used to come to him for advice. It gave him one of the first insight’s which was to be the foundation of HolidayIQ.com. He foresaw the increase in requirement for such information on weekend getaways and started a small blog called India Resort Survey; a portal that allowed users to log information about the accommodation they stayed at, in a location they had visited. He left his 15 year corporate career to pursue his passion for travel. Launched in 2004, India Resorts Survey was later changed to HolidayIQ .com and included user ratings on hotels.
HolidayIQ.com had merged with the Singapore-based travel search company Wego in 2010. However, the companies de-merged in 2013 and HolidayIQ raised fund from Tiger Global and Accel Partners.
